Single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Applejack, one of Giant Steps’ highest and coolest sites in the Upper Yarra. Planted in 2001 at 300 m altitude on red basalt soils, this site gives wines with natural acidity, structure and finesse. The 2023 vintage was cool and late, producing slow-ripened fruit with precision and flavour.
This Pinot opens with bright aromas of red cherry, pomegranate and cranberry, alongside savoury spice and forest notes. The palate is medium-bodied, tight and long, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity. The fruit is handled gently: whole berries, wild ferment, matured in French oak (25% new) for 8 months, and bottled without fining or filtration.
