Mas Amiel Maury Cuvée Prestige 10 Year Old
Experience the essence of Roussillon in a glass with this exceptional 10-Year-Old Maury, crafted by the historic Mas Amiel estate.
This is a Vin Doux Naturel (VDN)—a naturally sweet fortified wine—made in the style of port but with a unique Mediterranean twist. It is a complex blend of old-vine Grenache aged for a decade in large oak vats, including periods of outdoor aging to enhance oxidation and complexity.
Tasting Profile
The wine displays a deep mahogany colour with rich amber reflections. The nose is intensely aromatic, revealing notes of dried figs, black cherry preserve, cocoa, toasted nuts, and a subtle rancio character, which is a complex aroma developed through oxidative aging. The palate is rich and concentrated yet beautifully balanced by a streak of freshness. Expect long, velvety flavours of fig roll, candied orange peel, spice, and tobacco. The finish is persistent and satisfyingly warm.
Why You’ll Love It
With a guaranteed average age of 10 years, this Cuvée Prestige offers a far richer and more nuanced experience than younger fortified wines. It is an ideal companion for rich chocolate desserts, robust blue cheeses (like Roquefort), or simply enjoyed on its own as a spectacular digestive. Maury wines are produced in the sun-drenched Roussillon region of Southern France, famed for its dark, mineral-rich schiste soils, which contribute to the wine’s powerful, unique structure.
Serving Tip: Best served slightly chilled (12–14°C / 54–57°F).
